Listen, if you’re going to make abortions illegal or hard to get, AT LEAST make pre-natal healthcare and gynecology better. As per a new study, published in the September issue of Obstetrics and Gynecology, pregnancy related deaths in the state of Texas nearly doubled in the years between 2010 and 2012.

The report claimed that while the phenomenon is whole inexplicable, it is almost unacceptable in the “absence of war, natural disaster, and economic upheaval.” The reality is that when Texas lawmakers decided to slice and dice its family planning budget, it forced 82 clinics to close. These clinics served a crucial role in the community and their shutdown created some terrible consequences.
A Planned Parenthood spokeswoman summed it up when she told the Dallas Morning News.“Chances are they’re going to have a harder time finding somewhere to go to get that first appointment. They may be delayed in getting that initial pregnancy test and then a prenatal referral.”
Third world issues are taking place in our own freaking backyard, y’all. Pay attention.
