Twitter Says Sayonara to 235,000 Accounts

This week, Twitter announced that it had just completed a six month purge of nearly 235,000 accounts that promoted terrorism,”as part of a continuing effort to keep people from using the social network for extremist causes.” Damn. Since Twitter wholeheartedly supports free-speech on its platform, it has drawn hordes of trolls, bullies, and downright awful people to freely speak their awful minds. Nevertheless, the suspension project, which began in mid-2015, looks to be an ethical move for one of the most popular social media networks on the web. In light of reported abuse against people like Olympian Gabby Douglass, it’s good to know that Twitter is getting involved in the conversation.
