While law degrees are usually associated with stern, hardworking, white-collar professionals, there are other J.D. holding candidates who portray a different image. In fact many of us look up to these people without even knowing it, as they resemble some of today’s hottest celebrities and athletes.

Gerard Butler

Graduated: 1993

Making the transition from music to movies, “300” star Gerard Butler is one of the most famous actors with a law degree. He received his from the University of Glasgow in Scotland where he was also president of the law society and graduated with honors. Ultimately Butler decided that law was not for him.

After getting fired from a law trainee position at home and acting in several low-budget films, he finally made a name for himself in the role of the Phantom in Joel Schumacher’s on-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera. Butler jokes that it was his practice as the lead singer of a rock band during law school that prepared him for the part.
