Two Vincent Van Gogh paintings that have been missing since 2002 were found by an ongoing investigation by Italy’s anti-mafia department. A group linked to the Italian mafia stole them from a museum in Amsterdam the way most thieves steal things from museums…by lowering themselves through the ceiling, James Bond style.
Prosecutors found the paintings, worth an estimated $22.3 million dollars, in a basement belonging to a big-time Italian drug lord. The drug lord is said to be on the run in the United Arab Emirates. Italy has called for his extradition.
