RantCrush Top 5: September 2, 2016
Welcome to RantCrush Top 5, where we take you through today’s top five controversial stories in the world of law and policy. Who’s ranting and raving right now? Check it out below:
Pamela Anderson, along with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, wrote an op-ed about the dangers of porn in the Wall Street Journal. A lot of people are surprised by her stance, given that Anderson used to be a Playboy model, and is best known for this:
They dubbed porn a public hazard, saying:
This is a public hazard of unprecedented seriousness given how freely available, anonymously accessible and easily disseminated pornography is nowadays
They also claimed that today’s kids are “the crack babies of porn”–a seemingly insensitive comparison–and that they are “being raised in an environment of wall-to-wall, digitized sexual images.”
This isn’t the first time in recent years that porn has been called a public health crisis–the entire state of Utah has declared it one, in fact.
