Matthew Apperson, the guy who shot at George Zimmerman last year, got sentenced to 20 years in prison for attempted murder yesterday. He fired his gun at Zimmerman’s car from his own car and shattered the passenger side window, but missed Zimmerman. Now he’ll spend the two next decades behind bars.
Zimmerman shot and killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin in 2012 but was acquitted of all charges, which made him one of the least liked people in the country. He also tried to auction off the gun he killed Martin with earlier this year with a starting price of $5,000, saying that a portion of the revenue would be used to fight Black Lives Matter.
The concept that the guy who tried to kill Zimmerman but failed would get 20 years, while Zimmerman was acquitted left a lot of people speechless.
