There is a lot of tension in Europe due to the enormous refugee crisis, Brexit, and the election of Trump, and Merkel is seen by many as a great, liberal leader.

But critics think she has been too liberal in letting refugees into the country and as right-wing extremism is growing stronger in many places, it might be a tough battle for her to win.
