Mike Pence, the Musical

On Friday night Mike Pence decided to go see the super successful musical “Hamilton” on Broadway, and ended up hearing a personalized, unscripted message. After the show ended, the cast lined up and addressed Pence as he began to walk out saying, “We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us.” They asked him to work on behalf of “all of us.”

On Saturday morning, Donald Trump sent out some angry tweets, saying that Pence was harassed and that the theater must be a “safe place.”

The extraordinary hypocrisy in Trump’s statement had people on social media attacking Trump and Pence and the actor who read the statement, Brandon Victor Dixon, replied that “conversation is not harassment.” As of Monday, Trump supporters were calling for a boycott of “Hamilton,” and liberals tweeted under the hashtag #NameAPenceMusical, creating some new Pence-inspired titles.
