Great News! Humanity Might Only Have 1,000 Years Left

Most of us who do believe in climate change are worried about the future. And now we have even more reason to be. Physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking said recently that humanity has about 1,000 more years–then, it’s over, unless we find another planet to move to. “I don’t think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet,” he said at a talk at Oxford Union on Monday.

He also said humans likely will not be able to create colonies on Mars for another 100 years, meaning that we will have to be very careful with Planet Earth until then. We are ruining the planet at a faster pace each day. Though the future is bleak, Hawking did finish by telling students to keep exploring and never give up.
