Trump Breaks Silence on Comey Hearing

After keeping quiet all day yesterday, President Donald Trump has finally spoken about the Comey hearing. But his comments were somewhat contradictory–in a 3 a.m. tweet, he both claimed that Comey had lied, and that he felt completely vindicated.

At the hearing, Comey said that he had given his notes about the dinner conversation with Trump–the one where Trump allegedly asked him to drop the investigation into Michael Flynn–to a “good friend” who is a professor at Columbia Law School, who then “leaked” the memos to the press. That announcement resulted in the school’s website crashing, while everyone tried to figure out who the mystery professor was.

One of the weirdest moments of the hearing was Senator John McCain’s questioning. The senator didn’t make any sense. Seemingly confused, he referred to Trump as “President Comey” and tried to conflate the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails with the Trump and Russia investigation. Although they are clearly about different things, and the Clinton investigation has been closed, he called it a double standard and didn’t let it go. People were confused and expressed concerns about McCain’s health.
