After the latest terror attack in London, international politicians condemned the violence and called for an end to Islamic terrorism. But Louisiana Congressman Clay Higgins went a little further than most when he wrote in a Facebook post, addressing “Christendom,” that all Islamic terrorism suspects should be hunted down and killed. Higgins is a former law enforcement officer and was elected to Congress last year. He also called for internment camps for anyone suspected of engaging in terrorism. A lot of people were outraged by Higgins’ suggestions.
Many also pointed out Higgins’ hypocrisy. Shortly before he ran for Congress, Higgins resigned from his position as public information officer at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, after the sheriff asked him to stop making unprofessional and disrespectful comments to people. He was also the target of at least one lawsuit, after one of his ex-wives claimed he owed her $100,000 in child support. Another ex-wife claimed he held a gun to her head during an argument.
