On June 9, Venus Williams drove into an intersection and got into a crash. A 78-year-old passenger in the other car died from his injuries two weeks later, and now his family is suing Williams. According to investigators, Williams was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and she was not texting. According to Williams’ attorneys, the light was green when she started but turned red while she passed it and the other car couldn’t avoid crashing into her. The driver, Linda Barson, was the wife of the man who died. However, Williams was only traveling 5 mph at the time of the accident and according to ABC’s legal expert Areva Martin, it’s unlikely that she will face any criminal charges.
