President Donald Trump will announce whether or not he plans to pull the United States out of the Paris climate deal this afternoon. It has been widely speculated that he’s going to announce that we’ll be leaving. The climate agreement has wide international participation. If the U.S. leaves, it will join only two other countries that have not signed on–Syria and Nicaragua. Yup, that’s right–even North Korea is a part of this agreement.
In light of Trump’s pending announcement, other critical nations have reaffirmed their commitment to the agreement. China’s premier, Li Keqiang, stated that fighting climate change is in his country’s best interest. The Kremlin has said regardless of what the U.S. does, it will still participate. And the European Union has emphasized its continued commitment as well. Now all eyes are on Trump, and whether or not he’ll announce the U.S. withdrawal this afternoon.
