Survivor of Portland Stabbing Urges Public Not to Focus on Him

The survivor of the Portland stabbing in which two men lost their lives defending two teenage girls, Micah Fletcher, recently posted a video to his Facebook page in which he urged the public not to focus on him. Fletcher, 21, said that the girls, who were verbally harassed and berated by the stabber, Jeremy Joseph Christian, are the real victims. He urged people to donate to a crowdfunding campaign for them instead, saying: “We need to remember that this is about them. This is about those little girls.” And while he thanked everyone who donated to the crowdfunding campaigns for him and the two men who lost their lives, he said, “We in Portland have this weird tendency to continue patterns that we’ve done forever and one of them is same old just to put it bluntly: white savior complex.” He continued, “I think it’s immensely immensely morally wrong and irresponsible how much money we have gotten as opposed to how much support, money, love, kindness that has been given to that little girl.” Check out the powerful video here:
