Congressman Compares Reality to “Stranger Things”

Democratic Congressman David Cicilline of Rhode Island struck a chord yesterday when he compared Donald Trump’s administration to the show “Stranger Things.” “Mr. Speaker, like the main characters in ‘Stranger Things,’ we are now stuck in the Upside Down,” Cicilline said on the House floor. During his one-minute speech, he criticized the Muslim travel ban, the administration’s alleged ties to Russia, and the lack of action on the Flint water crisis.

He even had a poster of a photoshopped logo from the show next to him, edited to read: “Trump Things.” ICYMI, the show became a huge hit on Netflix last fall and depicts a group of kids trying to save their friend who got stuck in the “upside down,” where everything is warped and the world is inhabited by monsters. But we are living in the real world, and like Cicilline said, “Chief Jim Hopper is not coming to rescue us.”
