The son of Jerry Sandusky, the Penn State football coach who is serving a lengthy prison sentence for child molestation, has been arrested on similar charges. Jeffrey Sandusky, 41, has been charged with 14 felony counts involving two teenage girls. According to police, he attempted to obtain nude photos of the then-16-year-old girl last year and sought oral sex from her then-15-year-old sister in 2013. He had been dating the girls’ mother for six years and lived with the three of them for five years.
Jeffrey is one of six children adopted by Jerry Sandusky and his wife, and though he never accused his father of abusing him, one of his brothers has made that accusation. Professor Richard Gelles, the chair of child welfare and family violence at UPenn’s School of Policy and Practice, essentially points out that abuse from his father could have put Jeffrey at risk for abusive behavior himself. Jeffrey Sandusky is now suspended without pay from his job as a corrections officer at a prison awaiting a hearing next week.
