An unpublished report by scientists at 13 federal agencies shows that the temperature in the U.S. has risen dramatically since 1980. The report, which is currently awaiting the Trump Administration’s approval, was leaked out of fear that the administration might try to change or silence it.
The findings amount to a direct contradiction of what President Trump has said about climate change. Government scientists say that we are feeling the effects of global warming today, and that recent years have been the warmest in the past century and a half. The report also states explicitly that the evidence indicates that human activities have contributed to climate change. “Many lines of evidence demonstrate that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse (heat-trapping) gases, are primarily responsible for recent observed climate change,” the report, which was obtained by the New York Times, says. The Trump administration has not yet commented.
