Over the weekend, an employee at Google sent out a 3,000-word memo to his colleagues about how gender inequality in the tech world is due to biological differences between men and women. “Google’s left bias has created a politically correct monoculture,” the unnamed man wrote. “Distribution of preferences and abilities of men and women differ in part due to biological causes and that these differences may explain why we don’t see equal representation of women in tech and leadership,” the memo said.
Other Google employees were quick to denounce the idea, and engineering VP Aristotle Balogh said that “stereotyping and harmful assumptions” are not supposed to be part of Google. But the person who wrote the memo later commented on his original post claiming that he had had an outpouring of support from many other employees who feel that the political correctness at Google has gone too far.
