DeGeneres’ photoshopped meme wasn’t received by well by the Twitterverse. The comedienne has since faced some major backlash as many people were quick to note the negative implications of a white woman riding on a black man’s back.

Still, supporters of Ellen and others think it’s a reach to call Ellen DeGeneres “racist” for tweeting the meme in the first place.

Maybe the meme, like so many memes in 2016, wasn’t THAT funny. I mean Ellen has been known to make some pretty bad jokes.
