Another athlete with a law degree is Olympic rower Caryn Davies. Not only has she represented the USA for women’s rowing three times, but she also has a law degree from Columbia Law School. However, the months leading up to Davies’ third Olympic games may have been her most stressful thanks to her judicial clerkship applications. “I was going through the team selection process during the day, then coming home every night and scouring the OSCAR website [an online resource that lists clerkship opportunities],” said Davies in a Columbia alumni profile.
Davies took her knowledge of law and finance to Honolulu, where she is fulfilling a clerkship for Judge Richard Clifton who is a Honolulu-based member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
