The Trump Effect: 5 Republicans Who Will Be Voting for Clinton

By  |

The 2016 campaign season has revealed divisions across America, both cultural and political. Donald Trump fired up crops of people who feel like they've been lost and forgotten about in Washington. But it's not just your average Joe who feels that way. One current Republican Congressman has endorsed Trump's Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, a former Senator has done the same, and a handful of prominent Republican aides and advisors are also #WithHer. 2016 is a highly irregular instance--Republicans are embracing the torchbearer of the Democrats, and there are rumblings that more are prepared to do the same as the days tick toward November. Here are five influential Republicans who have already said they'll probably be voting for Hillary:

Jeb Bush Advisor, Sally Bradshaw

On Tuesday, Sally Bradshaw, Jeb Bush’s top advisor, announced that she will be leaving the Republican Party to register as an independent. In an email interview with CNN, Bradshaw called Trump a narcissist, a misogynist, and a bigot, saying “Donald Trump cannot be elected as president.” That being said, Bradshaw didn’t explicitly say she will be casting her ballot for Clinton, mentioning Gary Johnson–a third-party candidate–or a write-in as options.

But she did offer a scenario in which she would vote for Clinton, however: “If the race in Florida is close, I will vote for Hillary Clinton,” she said. Bradshaw, who said she has never voted for a Democrat in the past 30 years, said she disagrees with the Democratic nominee on a number of issues, yet “this is a time when country has to take priority over political parties.”
