Some Games of Thrones fans just experienced a crazy emotional rollercoaster in the last 24 hours. Last night, the Amazon placeholder listing for G.R.R. Martin’s Winds of Winter was given a release date for March 9, 2017. And basically, the Internet went crazy. Some fans were hopeful:

Others were highly doubtful:

Amazon has a track record of jumping the gun on Martin’s release dates. According to the author’s blog, Not A Blog, no information about release dates should ever be trusted unless it is announced by Martin himself.
