European politics can be violent. This morning a fistfight broke out between two politicians from the same party, the UK Independence Party, which is the right-wing British party that pushed for Brexit.
The altercation happened in the European Parliament Building in Strasbourg, France. Now the perpetrator is allegedly running from the French police.
This is noteworthy because UKIP strongly campaigned for Brexit, but has since been suffering from a number of internal conflicts, plots, and conspiracies, and no leader has stepped up to take the place of Nigel Farage. The guy who was punched is a favorite to take Farage’s place, but nothing is certain. As icing on the cake, today is also his 49th birthday…talk about bad luck!
