Two years ago Rolling Stone published a story that turned the battle against rape culture on its head, and then had to controversially retract the story. Rolling Stone is now headed to court in a defamation trial over the November 2014 article, “A Rape On Campus,” which portrayed a school administrator Nicole Eramo as a “villain.” The woman is suing the publication for $7.85 million dollars.
Since the story dropped, three lawsuits have been filed against Rolling Stone. Two years have passed and a lot has changed, but one question remains: when will we start treating survivors of rape as people with real stories to tell?
