Erin Schrode, who describes herself as an activist journalist, was interviewing participants at the Dakota Pipeline protest as advocates and authorities continued to clash. Everything was relatively fine, until she was shot in the lower back with a rubber bullet.
Schrode described the experience as “an indiscriminate use of excessive force,” which makes sense because the incident seemed to be completely unprovoked.
According to ABC, Morton County Sheriff’s Department claimed that “authorities used less-than-lethal ammunition to control the situation.”
