It can’t be the yogurt, because that stuff is delicious. No, the founder and CEO of the very successful yogurt brand Chobani is facing a slew of death threats after word came out he was hiring refugees. Hamdi Ulukaya employs about 300 refugees from Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey and other countries to work in his New York and Idaho factories.
This year, Chobani’s refugee hirees have been accused of two rape cases and the spike in Tuberculosis in Idaho. While there is nothing to prove these accusations, right-wing media is certainly having its way with xenophobia. A far-right publication, WND, released a headline: “American Yogurt Tycoon Vows to Choke U.S. With Muslims.”
