The Dakota Access Pipeline protests are still going on and now the oil company behind the project has asked a federal court to circumvent the government and give the O.K. to go ahead with the construction. This happened as some of the biggest protests were taking place.

When Trump takes office he is likely to give the green light to the pipeline. But that decision could be complicated by the fact that he invested almost $1 million in the company that plans to build it. And as it turns out, that the same company’s CEO donated over $100,000 to Trump’s campaign.
