A new pop-up bar and restaurant in Washington D.C. named one of its cocktails the “Pill Cosby,” and it features red pills floating around in the drink. Considering Bill Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually abusing at least 60 women and is currently on trial, this idea was in pretty bad taste.
One of the owners, David Gentry, even said the cocktail is meant to invoke thoughts of date rape. “It lets people be a little more aware,” he said.
The drink is one of many at the restaurant named after prominent people of color with ties to D.C., such as actress Taraji P. Henson and comedian Dave Chappelle. But the rape cocktail led to social media outrage, and the restaurant, Diet Starts Monday, has since apologized and removed the cocktail from the menu.
