Chance the Rapper has said he will donate $1 million to Chicago public schools. Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, met with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner last Friday to talk about the public schools in Illinois, which have suffered major budget cuts, but said that the governor’s answers were “vague.” In December, Rauner vetoed plans to grant $215 million to public schools in Chicago. Over the weekend, Chance told the media that Rauner also called him, but those talks were unsuccessful as well. Yesterday the 23-year-old rapper held a press conference in a school, announced that he is donating a huge sum of money to the schools, and urged corporations to do the same. He finished by saying, “Gov. Rauner, do your job.”
