Last night, Donald Trump made his first address to Congress. And the women of the Democratic Party decided to wear all white, in honor of the women’s suffrage movement. The color represents purity and was worn by Hillary Clinton at some of her campaign events last year. The House’s Democratic Women’s Working Group said the decision to wear white last night is a symbol of “the ongoing fight to attain equal rights for all women.” Trump’s record on women’s rights isn’t great–from the sexual assault allegations during his campaign, to his reinstatement of the global gag rule, to his talk of defunding Planned Parenthood–there’s plenty of fodder for criticism. So, the Democratic women wore “white to unite against any attempts by the Trump Administration to roll back the incredible progress women have made in the last century,” said Rep. Lois Frankel from Florida.
