Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is attacking former first daughter Chelsea Clinton after she criticized his comments about rape. Duterte declared martial law in southern parts of the country last week and spoke about how his military had free reign while trying to keep the peace. He said, “I alone would be responsible” for anything his troops committed under martial law. I will go to jail for you. If you happen to have raped three women, I will own up to it.” Duterte claimed to have been joking, and Clinton responded with a tweet:
In response, Duterte began attacking Clinton. Yesterday he asked: “When your father, the President of the United States, was screwing Lewinsky and the girls there in the White House, how did you feel? Did you slam your father?” It’s bizarre for the head of a country to attack a former first daughter, but with Duterte’s erratic history, it’s not that much of a surprise.
