When Indiana lawmakers asked their constituents to submit their Obamacare horror stories, it didn’t go quite as planned. “Did you lose a doctor you liked? Have your premiums gone up? Did your insurer leave the exchange? Let us know your Obamacare horror story,” the state’s Republican Party wrote on Twitter. But instead of getting answers describing how the Affordable Care Act had failed them, the post was flooded with replies pointing out how it had saved people. “I live in Indiana. I was denied coverage for a pre-existing condition before Obamacare. I was covered for 2 years through the ACA. The horror,” Twitter user Joel Godett wrote. And others had similar stories to share:
Others said the only real horror story is the GOP’s attempt to repeal the ACA. The Republican effort to repeal and replace the law is still in the works, but the Senate health bill vote has been temporarily postponed. A lot of Republicans have spoken out against it, as an estimated 22 million people would lose health care coverage.
