Anis Uzzaman is the CEO of Fenox Venture Capital, a VC firm that usually operates in Silicon Valley. Recently, an anonymous blog was published by someone claiming to be a woman who Uzzaman had “sexually taken advantage of.” Uzzaman has now sued the male CEO of another firm, Brandon Katayama Hill, claiming that he wrote the anonymous blog. Hill’s company, btrax, directly competes with Fenox Venture Capital.
The lawsuit claims that Hill took advantage of recent revelations about the pervasive culture of sexual harassment in the tech sphere to tank Uzzaman’s reputation. Hill has denied writing the blog post. But if Uzzaman’s claims are true, it’s a particularly gross move on Hill’s part, given that it could lead people to doubt the veracity of other accounts of harassment in Silicon Valley.
