Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), one of Washington’s most reliable moderates, has been in the spotlight lately because of her steadfast opposition to the Senate’s various plans to repeal Obamacare. But in between all that hubbub, she recently forgot to make sure that her mic was off while gossiping with her Senate colleague Jack Reed (D-RI). Collins and Reed started talking about President Donald Trump, criticizing his handling of spending, and wondering if the president knew basic aspects of the budget process.
Then, Collins and Reed moved on to Representative Blake Farenthold of Texas. The day before, Farenthold had suggested that if Collins were a man, he would have challenged her to a duel for refusing to vote in favor of the ACA repeal. Reed pointed out that Collins could “beat the sh*t” out of Farenthold and then Collins said, “And he—I don’t mean to be unkind, but he’s so unattractive it’s unbelievable.” She also made reference to a famous viral photo of Farenthold in footie pajamas:
