Today, former football star O.J. Simpson will head to his parole hearing. In 1994, he was accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, but was found not guilty after one of the most sensationalized trials of all time. However, in 2008 he was convicted of committing armed robbery and kidnapping after he set out to “reclaim” sports memorabilia that he claimed was stolen from him, from a hotel and casino complex.
Simpson has now served nine years out of a 33-year sentence at a Nevada prison, which is the minimum time served for him to be eligible for parole. Simpson is now 70 years old, and many legal experts expect him to be paroled thanks to his good behavior in prison. However, some believe it will be hard for the parole board members to disregard the suspicions that he killed Nicole back in the 90s. If parole is granted, Simpson will be released from prison after October 1.
