The 74th Golden Globe Awards took place last night in California. “Moonlight,” “La La Land” and “Manchester by the Sea” did really well. But the highlight of the evening was when legend Meryl Streep won the Cecil B. DeMille Award and gave an awesome acceptance speech.
She described her fellow actors’ diverse backgrounds and how those backgrounds enrich Hollywood and the movie industry. Without ever mentioning Donald Trump’s name, she delivered an on-point, emotional speech about how if “you kick ’em all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.” She also took the opportunity to quote her late friend Carrie Fisher.
