On New Year’s Eve, legendary pop diva Mariah Carey was set to perform on ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” right in Times Square.
But the highly anticipated performance didn’t go so well–Carey appeared to be unable to sing along to the tracks and talked in the middle of the songs. Carey’s team has accused the production company of intentional sabotage, claiming her earpieces didn’t work. There’s the possibility that all this drama could end in a lawsuit–Clark Productions has now said that the accusation was “defamatory, outrageous, and frankly absurd.”
Yesterday, Carey’s manager Stella Bulochnikov described the events of the evening in detail in an interview with People Magazine, saying that staff members from the production company were aware that the earpieces didn’t work but kept assuring her that they would start working as soon as the show went live.
But, Mariah Carey herself seems to be fine. After walking off the stage, she wrote on her Instagram, “Sh** happens. Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here’s to making more headlines in 2017.
