Today, new members of Congress will be sworn in, and Republicans will have a majority in both the House and Senate. GOP politicians have fought to repeal the Affordable Care Act for a long time and Republican leaders have said that they will move forward with that plan.
But, if they do dismantle Obamacare, what will they replace it with? Dismantling the law will lead to new challenges–namely unifying widespread views on what our healthcare system should look like. President-elect Donald Trump tweeted this morning that Obamacare “just doesn’t work” and stated in a second tweet that it is “lousy.”
There are other questions that Congress will likely have to weigh in coming months as well–including the confirmation of whoever Trump nominates to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat. The new year is sure to bring a lot of changes in Washington.
