France has some awesome things: cheese, wine, and new laws that ban un-recycled plastic bags and pesticides in public gardens. But that’s not all–France is also rolling out a new law that gives employees the right to disconnect after work hours. The law means that managers at companies with more than 50 employees have to designate specific hours of the day when employees do not need to answer work-related emails.
More and more people report being stressed and overworked each year, and with a smartphone, you are always reachable. “The boundary between professional and personal life has become tenuous,” said Myriam El Khomri, the French minister of labor, adding that cases of burnout are becoming more prevalent in France.
