Yesterday morning, seven protesters from Greenpeace climbed a 270-foot crane just a few blocks from the White House and rolled out a 70-foot banner with the word “resist.” They reportedly told police that they were conducting a First Amendment protest and dangled from the dauntingly tall crane. Later, a spokesperson for the organization said that the protesters were calling for resistance to President Trump. The protest came a day after Trump moved to resume the construction of two controversial oil pipelines, which have drawn widespread criticism.

At around 2:30 p.m., the protesters started descending and police said they would be arrested. Witnesses said that from afar, the banner appeared to be hanging right over the White House.
