There’s only one day left before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. The other day it was confirmed that the Girl Scouts will be there and the announcement led to some backlash for the group. But hopefully, things will run smoothly.

A 15-year-old gunman opened fire inside a classroom in a bilingual private school, Colegio Americano del Noreste, in Monterrey, Mexico, yesterday. He injured three students and one teacher before shooting himself. He later died at the hospital. All the victims were shot in the head and are in “extremely serious condition.” His motive remains unknown. Mass shootings are unusual in Mexico, and the nation remains in shock.
Mass shooting at a school in northern Mexico; 5 injured. First time it happens in Monterrey, very rare kind of attack in Mexico, unlike US.

Footage from the surveillance cameras in the classroom has been circulating on social media, which government security spokesman Aldo Fasci condemned because it shows children being shot. He said that this situation “is happening everywhere.” He added, “the children have access to the internet. This has happened in other countries.” Mexican schools used to have a system for checking bags at entrances but have ended that practice. “There was a reason why book bags were checked. I think we are going to have to start doing it again,” Fasci said.
