Ok, so we have to ask: what’s up with Donald Trump’s handshakes?
When he greeted his Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, he looked like he was about to pull the poor man over by the force of his handshake. And Trump’s 19-second handshake with Shinzo Abe has already become an internet classic because the Japanese Prime Minister not-so-subtly rolled his eyes when it was over.
But yesterday when Trump met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the first time, it seemed like Trudeau had been briefed on how to deal with the Trumpshake. During their first meeting it looked like Trump was going for his classic power move, but Trudeau grabbed onto Trump’s shoulder and resisted. You can clearly see the struggle if you look closely.
After their meeting, the two shared a handshake in front of the cameras that only lasted for four seconds. But a photo that captured Trudeau’s look at Trump’s hands already resulted in a ton of memes.
