Families Want Answers After the Oakland Warehouse Fire

The death toll after the fire that broke out Friday night at a warehouse party in Oakland is now up to 36. By Monday morning, about 70 percent of the building had been searched but the operation had to be paused because of unstable conditions. Most victims were young and some were only teenagers. The warehouse was leased by a Buddhist-inspired group called the Satya Yuga Collective and had been the subject of an earlier investigation. Neighbors had previously complained about people living there illegally and about a ton of trash and debris outside. It also did not have any sprinklers and only two exits. It’s still unclear what caused the fire and many people want answers.
