Russia’s New Reality Show: A “Hunger Games” Spinoff?

Yes, it’s true. Russia is developing a new reality show that is basically the Hunger Games IRL. In “Game2: Winter” 30 contestants will fight to stay alive in the Siberian wilderness, populated by bears and wolves, for nine months. The prize is $1.6 million, but comes with a pretty high risk. According to the developers, everything is allowed: “Each contestant gives consent that they could be maimed, even killed. The game show will involve 2,000 cameras, 900 hectares, and 30 lives. Everything is allowed. Fighting, alcohol, murder, rape, smoking, anything.”

We think smoking is more acceptable than murdering someone, but the rules do state that Russian laws will still apply and if you commit a crime, the police will arrest you. But the creator, Yevgeny Pyatkovsky, is going to be very hands-off: “We will refuse any claim of participants even if they were to be killed or raped,” he said. There will be cameras set up in the whole area and each contestant will carry one as well. We know a few people who would like this style of reality show:
