Don’t Cry Wolf…

A few weeks ago, an 18-year-old college student named Yasmin Seweid filed a police report claiming that three drunken men on the subway had tried to rip off her hijab while shouting Donald Trump’s name. She has now been arrested for lying about that incident. The NYPD spent a lot of time trying to investigate her claims, but they turned out to be untrue. Now Seweid is being charged with filing a false report, because she took up police resources and taxpayer money. She eventually told officers that she made the story up due to family issues and in an attempt to get attention at home. Unfortunately, this could make people even less likely to believe others who have actually been attacked.
