Taiwan’s Workers Will Finally Get Weekends!

For the first time since Taiwan began industrializing in the 1960’s, workers will be guaranteed two whole days off per week and will be limited to 40-hour work weeks.

In Taiwan, it has long been the norm to work overtime for free because workers fear being replaced or losing their jobs. Better working conditions were one of President Tsai Ing-wen’s campaign promises and she has pledged to sign this bill before the year’s end.
