Mike Pence’s new neighbors seem to be a cool gang–he’s renting a house in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of D.C. until he is inaugurated. Earlier this month, a bunch of them hung Pride flags on their houses, to show that they don’t agree with Pence’s views on the LGBT community.
Now, his neighbors have published an open letter inviting Pence to dine with them at Comet Ping Pong, the pizzeria that was the target of a very bizarre online conspiracy theory called “Pizzagate.”
Members of NOPE! (Neighbors Organizing for Power & Equality) hope that sharing a pizza together could help “quell the damaging impact of a bizarre ‘fake news’ story that has put us all in harm’s way.” The group writes that grandparents and parents in the neighborhood are struggling to explain to their children why a man would fire a gun in a family-friendly place. Pence hasn’t replied yet. But why would anyone ever say no to pizza?
