Yesterday, pop star Taylor Swift’s attorneys picked jurors for the trial against a radio host who is accused of groping Swift during a photoshoot four years ago. Opening statements in the trial are set to begin today. Swift accused David Mueller of grabbing her bottom under her dress while they were posing for a photo before a 2013 concert in Denver, Colorado. Mueller’s attorney said Swift may have misidentified Mueller as the groper when it was actually someone else. Swift never went to the police, as she wanted to keep the incident “discreet.” But Mueller lost his $150,000-a-year job at the radio station and sued Swift for defamation. Swift countersued and accused him of sexual assault. The two lawsuits are now part of the same trial.
“It was not an accident, it was completely intentional, and I have never been so sure of anything in my life,” Swift said in a deposition. Some fans had come from as far as Mexico and Venezuela to try and catch a glimpse of the star outside of the courthouse in Denver. The trial could last two weeks.
