Stanford University Misses The Point With Liquor Ban

Esteemed Stanford University has  decided that the only surefire way to prevent sexual assaults from happening is to prohibit students from consuming hard liquor at campus parties. That’s one way to tackle it, I guess. Yet, many people can’t help but think that the university is completely missing the point.

There are all kinds of parameters surrounding the alcohol ban, like how much students are allowed to keep in their dorms and limitations on proof. They’ve all been outlined in a letter sent out to new and returning students. Ever since the sentencing of Brock Turner, University faculty and administration have been quick to blame alcohol and “party culture”. Stanford essentially says you are not liable for anything you do while drunk. This is a crutch for the culture surrounding sexual assault, people.

While the college believes the ban is scientific and research based, many people cannot help but think they are truly misguided.
