Ivanka Trump Booed in Germany

Ivanka Trump participated in a panel discussion yesterday in Germany with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, and other notable women. The panel, which was part of the W20 summit, was titled “Inspiring Women: Scaling up Women’s Entrepreneurship.” Ivanka Trump defended her father, President Donald Trump, calling him a “champion of families.” That comment led to a series of boos, hisses, and jeers from the audience. Like her father, Trump blamed the criticism on the media and stated, “I’ve certainly heard the criticism from the media and that’s been perpetuated, but I know from personal experience, and I think the thousands of women who have worked with and for my father for decades are a testament to his belief and solid conviction in the potential of women. As an adviser and as a daughter, I can speak on a very personal level knowing that he encouraged me and enabled me to thrive.”

Ivanka Trump was also asked what exactly her role in the administration is, given her separate business obligations. Here’s what she said:
